Best Time to Visit
January, May, and September are the Grand Tournament months when the neighbourhood is electric with sumo fans. Spring (late March to April) is ideal for cherry blossoms along the Sumida River. Avoid mid-August when heat and humidity peak.

Local Tip
If you visit during a tournament, purchase a 『one-day standing ticket』 (ippan-kan) sold at the arena on the morning of each match day from around 8:00 am. These inexpensive tickets let you watch the lower-division bouts live and soak up the atmosphere even if premium seats are sold out.
