Getting There
Ueno is served by JR Yamanote and Keihin-Tohoku Lines, the Tokyo Metro Ginza and Hibiya Lines, and the Keisei Main Line (direct airport access from Narita via the Keisei Skyliner, approximately 41 minutes). From Haneda Airport, take the Keikyu Line to Shinagawa and transfer to the Yamanote Line (approximately 40–50 minutes total). The area is extremely walkable once you arrive.

Best Time to Visit
Late March to early April for cherry blossoms is the most iconic time, but expect large crowds. Mid-May to June offers pleasant weather with no crowds. Autumn (October–November) brings colorful foliage around the park and is ideal for museum visits. The New Year period sees Ueno's temples and shrines come alive with traditional festivities.

Local Tip
IC cards (Suica or Pasmo) are accepted at virtually all transport and convenience stores in the area. Most museums are closed on Mondays — plan accordingly. Ameyoko is liveliest Thursday through Sunday. For the best cherry blossom photos without people in the frame, arrive at the park before 7 AM.
